B i o g r a p h y

Christopher Kalstad is a composer and teacher living in Spokane, Washington.

 

He has written several choral works, and composed or arranged music for various solo instruments and chamber ensembles.  

 

He studied music theory with Dr. Larry Zgonc and arranging with Dr. Walter Saul.  At the 2018 Lehigh University - ACDA Choral Composers Forum, he studied choral composition under the tutelage of Dr. Steven Sametz and Dr. Aaron Jay Kernis.  In February 2018, his Northern-Alone for B flat trumpet was selected as the first winner of the Minute of Music Project.  The composer has a B.S. in Music Education from Warner Pacific College and a M.A. in Humanities from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
